Spreadsheets are where most businesses start, and for good reason: they are flexible and everyone knows them. But there is a point where they cost more time than they save.
1. Nobody trusts the numbers
Different versions of the same file give different answers, and meetings start with reconciling them.
2. One person holds everything together
If the business stops when one colleague is on leave, the process lives in their head, not in a system.
3. The same data is typed twice
An order entered in one sheet, again in the invoice, again in the stock list. Every copy is a chance for a mistake.
4. Reports take days
Month-end means collecting files from every team and stitching them together by hand.
5. Growth makes it worse
More customers, products or branches should not mean more spreadsheets. If it does, it is time to connect your operations.
